Kick-Ass (2010) – Rated R for strong brutal violence throughout, pervasive language, sexual content, nudity and some drug use – some involving children.

I just watched Kick-Ass and I thoroughly enjoyed it!  Aaron Johnson played the nerd-cum-superhero a la Peter Parker/Spiderman almost as well as Tobey Maguire.  And I just loved how the movie parodied other comic superheroes.  Now, as someone who has never read the Kick-Ass comic let alone heard of it before this, I gotta say it’s great!  I just might start reading comics.  On second thought, no matter how cool a movie based on a comic is, I’ve never really had the desire to start reading comics.  Out of all the characters in this film, Nicolas Cage as Big Daddy and Chloe Grace Moretz as Hit Girl pretty much steal the movie.  Nicolas Cage played Big Daddy just campy enough to not border hammy and was completely hilarious.  His mannerisms as Big Daddy were apparently modeled after the original Batman himself, Adam West.  He totally hit the nail on the head.  Even his little mannerisms as Damon Macready were entertaining.  It almost makes you forget his horrific performance in The Wicker Man.  Almost.  And Chloe Grace Moretz is quite believable as a little girl who kicks ass and swears almost as much as a sailor.  Christopher Mintz-Plasse is just hilarious.  His little lisp and dorky demeanor work as the Red Mist.  And Mark Strong as the deliciously evil Frank D’Amico…where do I begin?  He reminds me so much of the equally handsome Andy Garcia.  But that’s a whole other post haha!  I know it’s corny but you know it’s coming…Kick-Ass pretty much kicked ass!  All in all, I would have to rate this movie 4 1/2 stars.  Go enjoy!
