And so it begins…

People say to “write what you know.” Quite the cliche, huh?  Well, when it comes to writing about your opinions on a certain medium, what exactly is what you “know?”  If someone likes a certain film and someone else hates it, who is right?  The dilemma is that there is no right.  Opinions are subjective statements about an issue or topic that are a direct result of an emotion or interpretation of facts.  Many factors can influence someone’s opinion.  There have been many times where my first impression of a movie was one way, and after discussions with others my opinion changed.  That is what I think is the beauty of film criticism.  People sometimes forget that film critics are writing their opinions on the films they watch.  There is no black and white in film criticism.  There is a huge gray area.  If Roger Ebert writes that Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen is “a horrible experience of unbearable length, briefly punctuated by three or four amusing moments” and someone who loved the movie disagrees with this statement, neither person is “right.”  For the record, I couldn’t agree more with Ebert.  But I digress.  The whole reason why I’m starting this blog is to write my opinions about movies.  And occasionally on other mediums.  If you agree with my opinions, let’s chat about movies!  If you disagree, let’s chat anyway.  Whether you like my opinion or not, I’d love to hear from y’all!
